Here's What We Did in 2017

Jan 2017 - The year it all began!
It was two months out from my birthday (Nov 2016) and end of the year all millennials thought it was the beginning of the end or as my favorite meme said:

Anyways, by the end of 2016 I just felt overwhelmed by all the badness I was seeing blowing up my newsfeed. All it took was one friend asking in a group text, "Hey Colleen, do you know what you want to do for your birthday?" My immediate thought, "I want to put some good into this world". It was that simple, I wanted/ needed to spend my birthday doing some good. And how do you do something good, they say it always starts with your community around you. So my engineer brain starts doing a matrix of what can I do to volunteer with a group of friends for a Saturday and what can I do to make it the most fun for everyone attending?
Doing good part: let's clean up my favorite park
Who doesn't want to keep Golden Gate Park golden? Who doesn't mind spending the day bullshitting with cool ass mutual friends while getting their steps?
Having fun part: let's add some kickball and alcohol
Kickball is literally for everyone and anyone who doesn't want to try to kick the ball at least once. Just add beer and you got sloshball.
And because I got hyped with a clever name and some cute logo I doodled. I wanted to get matching shirts. Anyways we went, we had a blast. 15 awesome people came together with the excuse of it's birthday and we picked up 15 bags of trash and 3 bags of recyclables. Then treated ourselves to some sloshball. I was exhausted but man I couldn't have asked for a better day with better people.
